State Farmer’s Market

I’m a new fan of the State Farmer’s Market! Or any Farmer’s Market really.
Here in Raleigh, North Carolina, we have an excellent Farmer’s Market just a few miles from our house. Plants, herbs, veggies, fruit, berries, baked goods. The list goes on! My husband, Jason, and I have made a habit (and a repeating date) of visiting the Farmer’s Market every week or so for fresh produce. It’s strawberry season now, and we landed two large baskets of berries (for $3.50 each!) earlier this week. We also picked up fresh kale, tomatoes, vidalia onions, and beets. Here are some photos of our goods!

Not only is the Farmer’s Market a great place to buy healthy, inexpensive, fresh produce and plants, but it’s become a fun date for us, too. Jason and I love oogling at all the goods, and spending some QT together. The open air and refreshing scenery is enjoyable and relaxing. We love just walking and chatting and daydreaming of the big farmhouse and gardens we’ll have one day. Not to mention, there is usually a sweet treat involved for me: the absolutely delicious German pastries readily available in the baked goods section.
And if that hasn’t sold you yet, when you buy from your local Farmer’s Market, you’re supporting farmers in your area! The State Farmer’s Market in Raleigh is reserved for North Carolina Farmers, and I love knowing we’re supporting local farmers when we get our produce.
